A Visit to Le Nessay and St Briac sur Mer, Brittany, France

I have had the extraordinary opportunity to explore the breathtaking coastline of Brittany, France over the last several years. Each experience has been its own kind of wonderful, from hikes that left me in awe at every turn, to forests that had me thinking giants really do exist (see my post on Huelgoat forest). This trip was no exception …

Recently, some friends and I visited Le Nessay, a lovely hotel and restaurant set on a picturesque peninsula, its sandy beach and clear blue waters beckoning those who want a perfect blend of opulence and natural beauty.

From its website https://www.lenessay.com/en/ :

Le Nessay was born from the desire to completely rehabilitate a sleeping beauty. A mansion built at the end of the 19th century on the site of an old castle, a house with a thousand stories and emotions. It took a whole year of work to transform this exceptional place into a 17 rooms hotel, right on the water’s edge. The warm atmosphere of this old family house is intact.

Designed as an ideal haven where time stands still, it is a place where memories are crafted. A place where we focus on what really matters, we (re)discover Brittany, we admire the golden sun setting on the sea, we breathe in the taste of salt on our lips, we enjoy the people we love, we celebrate reunions, we disconnect and surrender to the serenity of the place.

Le Nessay

Le Nessay hotel boasts tastefully decorated, refined rooms adorned with stunning channel views. The upscale restaurant tantalizes taste buds with exquisite culinary creations, while the tapas bar offers a more casual dining experience. We opted for the latter, and while I wanted to post more photos, we unfortunately dug right in, and therefore I can only tempt you with a few of the remaining bites ….

Of course, this only means that we need to go back very soon! Though the weather had us eating inside, there is outdoor seating for those warm, sunny days that are fast approaching.

In addition to spending quality time on the terrace, I plan to take full advantage of the hotel’s chic spa. I think booking a girls’ spa date is the perfect way to start the new season, don’t you agree? If you plan to be in the area, you can reserve your time slot here: https://www.lenessay.com/en/your-well-being/

Just a stone’s throw away from the hotel lies St. Briac sur Mer beach, a magnificent haven with dramatic cliffs and panoramic views of the rugged coastline. Here, the juxtaposition of towering cliffs against the vast expanse of the sea creates a scene of unparalleled beauty. It’s the perfect spot for nature lovers and photographers alike, offering endless opportunities to capture the raw beauty of Brittany’s coastline. If you peruse through Instagram, you will no doubt see ample photos of this very spot, and with good reason.

But it’s not just the natural beauty that makes Brittany’s beaches so special; it’s also the sense of history and culture that permeates the air. From the quaint fishing villages along the coast to the ancient ruins steeped in legend, there’s a palpable sense of the past intertwined with the present. That is exactly what makes la belle Bretagne unlike any other area in France. Yes, I am biased, but I think Brittany is quite simply the most beautiful and interesting region.

A Beautiful Sunset in St Briac …

On this particular day, my friends and I stayed to watch the sun set. We did so with a profound sense of gratitude for choosing to live in an area of such extraordinary beauty. Brittany has left an indelible mark on my soul, reminding me of the unparalleled magic that can be found when we embrace all that life has to offer.

A heartfelt thank you to my readers, who have stayed with me when I wrote every week to when I wrote only when time and energy allowed. I hope to get back on a more regular writing schedule this year.

Please do leave a comment and let me know if you will be visiting Brittany soon.
